Velenje castle collections

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

As I said the last time. The collections of the Velenje castle are great. Specially the collection of František that he brought from Africa. The native art is so different, but it’s great to see a different view of the world.

The castle on the hill

Velenje is a small town with large boulevards that was artificially build in the 50s. Two town is not anyhow exceptional. A small historical centre and the rest looks like an ordinary suburb. However, two things you will notice. The first one is just ginormous gorenje factory that just suddenly appears in the middle of nowhere. And the second one is a small yet beautiful castle that takes place on a steep hill above the town. The very exceptional thing about this castle is a great museum. It is just packed with great artefacts. But more on this will be in the next article.
