Summer Film School (LFS) is not really a school of film, but rather an independent film festival with some additional tutorials and presentations about films for public. But for me it usually means watching some films in between visiting local bars. LFS takes place in the last two weeks every july in Uherské Hradiště. This year was the first year without former arts director Jiří Králík which had a good reputation for being arts director, but was horrible as a manager and what more he was loosing money, distracting sponsor and doing such crazy things. This year, I went there for there for three days. LFS was not really bad this year, but I reckon the previous years were more interesting for me. Maybe in the previous year I spent more times in the pubs and then watching any film was kinda better… Or maybe I spent more time in cinemas… I don’t know… (-;

We took train from Prague to Uherské Hradiště, but there were two unexpected accidents on the way. In the first one, we had to wait for about half hour to get from one track to another parallel because there was a train that slipped off the track and so we had to avoid it. Czech Railways couldn’t work any faster! And few kilometres before Olomouc somebody jumped bellow a train heading towards us, so we were waiting again…

In Uherské Hradiště we stayed at Verča, a friend of Kamila. Later arrived also Sylva and my brother. The first day afternoon, just after we arrived, we went to a pub in an old farm for a luxury beer.

For some reason, every Vertigo bar I have been to is simply superb! (I have been to two of them) I don’t know if it’s the name or something else, but everything sounds, and is great… At Vertigo in Olomouc, the atmosphere is superb, people are great, and I just like it. So it is in Uherské Hradiště… But in Uherské Hradiště, they have something what’s missing in Olomouc – a pink colour, big pink rabbit, and a great bartender – Honzík who made us some great pink coctails…

At the end of the night, there was a small accident. Some guy run to the bar, and robbed 100CZK from the bar. Jiří, as he wanted to impress the girls, he tried to fight him, and after few minutes, he won. But at the end, the robber sat among us, and had some drinks with us… So happy end again…

I do some things regularly every year (2008. One of such things is wine tasting in the celars of chateau Buchlovice. Chateau web page, wikipedia site (in Czech). Great thing to do with great people. But let’s move on. The wine which was great as usually, but not that great as last year (I think was caused by insufficient level of alcohol in my blood, not 40 wine shots like the last time).

We slept at Rosťa house. His wife was really surprised in the morning how many we were. But she was ok with us, and after a cup of cofee, we went for a breakfast to the local bar “u Mohameda”. There we had a couple of beers as a breakfast. We were not the only ones, all two tables inside were full, so we had to be thankful for the table and the bench outside.

After breakfast we headed down to the centre. Pepa went to music festival in Tasov, me, Martin and Bucina were about to meet with Jiří to give us a ride to Nový Hrozenkov where party continued, and Pavel with Lilibox went o the train because we had just one car… Because it was a lunch time at the time we arrived to the centre we went to have a lunch.

What is this?!

As almost every year, I go to Uherské Hradiště (or in czech) for couple of days to watch movies. This year, just for one day since Pavel planned to make a small weekend at his weekend house in Nový Hrozenkov.

We went straight to a pub where Pavel and some others were having really late lunch.

I saw just tree movies. The first one – Palestinian, and the second one from Israel were quite shits. But the third one – Vacas (+ a short one at the beginning – Las seis en punta) from director Julio Medem (who was mother of these movies) were quite good! It’s so bad that we always end up at drinking a lot of beer.

The most boring time in the student’s life is exams period. 6 long weeks of studying. Get up in the morning, lying among textbooks, studying the whole day, and going to bed late at night. And again the next day. Until the next exam. Then learning for another exam. Another check. Another class done. Bad times in the student’s life. But wait! there are some, very few, exceptions as well. But not many.

Actually this is the reason why I write in some particular months so few times. Specially january, february and june… In these months, I usually have head full of school, and when I can write something, I rather go out, or do something to work, or do something else.

Right, mentioning writing is not appropriate here. Some humble notices among tons of pictures. Yes, writing on this blog is not very important, and I don’t pay much attention to it. Pictures, expressing the life visually is more important here. Well, I would say the most important! But written word still values a lot in the human life.

So these bad times finally ended! At the end of february I spent one week in Olomouc. I also went to visit my brother in Brno. I’ll report this next time. But this time, I have something else – wine conference in Buchlovice. The wine tasting took place in a chateau in Buchlovice, a small village near Uherské Hradiště. We were in wine cellars of the beautiful chateau with lot of wine, beautiful girls, and nice music.

I went there with well known company from Brno. I met there a lot of friends. At the beginning we were four, me, Pavel, Rosťa and Martin. And after some time some other people came, and then left, but we stayed! As a stiking example is Lilbox. Comming two hours late, staying one hour, and leaving almost without touching wine!

I said we stayed, but actually Pavlík left us to be with some girls. I couldn’t believe it! He preferred girls instead of high class drinking.

Me and the other Martin, we decided to drink red wine, and Rosťa became an expert on white wine. Also because of he likes white. So as you might have noticed, Martin (Crackonosh) will be your guest this time.

Actually this was not wild drinking. The most of the time we were discussing flavors and bouquet of wines. And I have to say they were great! We got really lucky to get to good wines at the beginning. Specially the first specie impressed us a lot! A bit sweeter, but really well tasting wine. I actually lost my notes about wines (I think I left them at home in Olomouc). But when I find them, I will publish some great tips what to buy.
