Germany 2 – Saarbrücken

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Finally I get to the most important point of my Germany visit. Saarbrucken. Ok, one thing – I didn’t see much there. But at least me, Beni, Fred, and Emily, we went to see the castle of Saarbrucken, so we fulfilled the purpose to have some cultural experience, and not only to go party.

So to the point. Me, Pavla, and Mike, we came from Trier on sat, and joined the crowd. We went directly to bar, so it would be better to not to talk about that things… [-; Anyway, I was really glad to see all people again. I really enjoyed that. Had finally good beer, not like here in Spain.

All the pictures from Saarbrucken reunion are at dedicated site :: HERE ::

Luxembourg

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Few pics from Luxembourg today. The whole city is for two hours. You won’t need more. There is not much to see. And what more – the whole time it was raining although in Trier there was nice whole day. Bad luck. Not much more to say.

Maybe just two small comments – there is unlike in Germany lot of façcades from stone. I don’t know how about you, but I don’t really likethem. They seem to be too depressive for me. [-;

And interesting enough is also that Luxembourg is quite big in economics, and there is lot of commuters from neigbourgh areas from Germany and France. People just live in cheaper areas, and travel to work every day. It takes about one hour by train to Luxembourg from Trier, and thus don’t know whether it’s worth the effort to do this.

Germany 1 – Trier

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Well, little delayed again (but I live in Spain, so what?!!! [-;), but better than never. There is a post about my trip to Germany. I went there for 5 days, and the main purpose was to visit former Kansas State University students reunion. The reunion took place at the weekend around 28.3., and was in Saarbrucken. But at first I went to visit Pavla, and Mike in Trier. So this post will be about that.

Trier is the oldest German city. Has been found long time ago before year 16 BC by Romans. There is lot of Roman ruins, and monuments. I can number gate (Porta Nigra), amphitheater, bridge, spa. Trier has around 100 000 inhabitants, so about the same size as Olomouc. Well, just have a look at wikipedia.

Trier is students, and turistic city. There are two universities. My friends Pavla, and Mike studies architecture at technical university. I stayed at their home three days, and it was really nice that I could be there.

We flew to Trier with Pavla from Madrid with late night plane. We spent very pleasant night at airport in Koln. Then we went to the first morning train to Koblenz and then to Trier. At the platform we met Pavla’s colleagues from architecture. What a surprise. They were coming from Greece, and were also so lucky to sleep at the airport, so instead of chatting about experience from traveling, we were sleeping in the train. Deutsche Bahn have quite good trains, but I was surprised how expensive was it – for two hours in the train I paid €32. This is rip off, not a price for train!!!

Pavla and Mike live in the historical center, so that was nice that I could walk everywhere. Anyway in Trier we were doing pretty much nothing. We went to good pizza, to play pool. We watched some crazy German guy fighting women box world champion on TV. I went to Luxembourg. Not that much to say.

Anyway there are some picture bellow. All the pictures can be found as usually :: HERE ::
